Kabila Abass is a Professor of Human Geography, focusing on urban and economic geographic research. He has independently carried out research in his field and collaborated with others in multidisciplinary research using varied research methodologies. His scholarly scientific works highlight development problems occasioned by policy failures and institutional ineptitude in the context of Sub-Saharan African cities. It is expected that these works will engender the desired positive socio-economic and environmental transformation in urban geographic spheres through policy initiatives. The goal is to make these cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.

Specific areas of current research are:

  1. Natural disasters and household vulnerabilities;

  2. Problems of Urbanisation/peri-urbanisation;

  3. Aging and Health Dynamics;

  4. Development-related issues.
