In preparation for the Confucius Institute's official inauguration at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) this December, Prof. Zhou Guiping, the designated Acting Director of the Institute visited the Provost of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, which will host the Institute. The Provost, Prof. Charles Ofosu Marfo, warmly received her in the College's Board Room.
Accompanying Prof. Zhou were Professors Min Zuchuan and Cai Xiaohui, both of whom are distinguished Chinese educators and are presently Chinese instructors at the Department of Language and Communication Sciences.

The Dean of International Programmes, Prof. Daniel Y. A. Duah, shared insights about the Institute's journey. He revealed that discussions with Hubei University of Automotive Engineering has been going on for over a year with the aim of establishing the Confucius Institute at KNUST. With the recent approval from the Chinese International Education Fund, KNUST is feverishly preparing for the grand inauguration.
During her address, Prof. Zhou expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and shed some light on the Institute's mission. She emphasized its role in fostering cultural exchanges between Ghana and China, facilitating student and staff exchange opportunities, and creating job prospects for Chinese graduates in China.
In his response, Prof. Charles Marfo voiced the University's enthusiasm about the Confucius Institute. He assured the delegation of KNUST's commitment to the Institute's success and expressed eagerness to collaborate closely with the International Programmes Office and the Chinese team.

The meeting was also graced by the presence of Dr. Ebenezer Tettey Otieku, the College's Registrar; Dr. Solace Yankson, the Head of the Department of Language and Communication Sciences; and Dr. Melvin Djorbuah Nartey, who is the interim Director of the Confucius Institute for KNUST.
