Elianor Mensah, a level 400 Business Administration student studying International Business at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has highlighted how studying International Business has equipped her with global business knowledge, critical thinking skills, and cross-cultural experience.

Elianor mentioned that her passion for understanding how businesses operate across borders inspired her decision to pursue International Business at KNUST.

“I was drawn to the idea of understanding how business works beyond borders, how companies operate globally, how trade happens between countries, and how different markets connect,” she said.

“KNUST was the natural choice for me because of its reputation as one of the best universities in Ghana.”

According to her, the program exceeded her expectations by exposing students to several disciplines beyond business administration.

“When I first started, what stood out was how broad the program was. I quickly realized it wasn’t just about business, it touched on law, finance, economics, and even culture. That surprised me, but also excited me,” she added.

Elianor described her academic journey as rigorous but rewarding, noting that the program challenged students to think critically and analytically.

“The lecturers are knowledgeable, and they push you to think beyond the surface,” she said.

She added that a course like International Trade Finance really challenged her to understand concepts like documentary credit, Incoterms, and foreign exchange risk.

‘‘It wasn’t always easy, but the depth of knowledge I gained has been invaluable,” she said.

Elianor identified the X-Culture program as one of the most impactful experiences during her studies. Elianor explained the initiative that, she collaborated with students from Italy, India, Morocco, and France on a real business project involving an Italian event-mobility startup.

“It was the most practical and eye-opening experience of my entire program,” she added.

“Coordinating across time zones, navigating cultural differences, and producing real business deliverables together showed me what international business truly looks like beyond the classroom.”

She noted that her program has helped her develop strong communication, time management, adaptability, and problem-solving skills needed in today’s global business environment.

“I feel genuinely prepared to work in an international environment,” she added.

Elianor encouraged prospective students to consider International Business, she advised them to approach the course with determination and an open mind.

“International Business at KNUST is deeper, more technical, and more demanding than most people expect, but that’s exactly why it’s worth it,” she said.

“By the time you finish, you’re not just someone who knows about global markets, you’re someone who can think critically, work across cultures, and handle complex real-world business challenges.”
