The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has placed third in the 12th Annual International Supply Chain Case Competition, held on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
The team, made up of Abigail Dekagbe, Rebecca Sakyi, Angela Austin Kotun, and Abdul Majeed Fawzan, are students from the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems at the KNUST School of Business.
They represented Ghana as the only African university in a field that featured top institutions from around the world.
This year’s competition centered on a real-world business challenge drawn from Starbucks’ high-end Princi Bakery operations. Participating teams were tasked with developing a sustainable and cost-effective delivery model.
They were required to evaluate whether Starbucks should insource or outsource its delivery operations, while maintaining temperature compliance, service reliability, and cost efficiency.
Through four rigorous rounds of presentations and Q&A sessions, the KNUST team impressed judges with their analytical insight, strategic approach, and teamwork, earning them a place on the winner’s podium.
KNUST’s participation was made possible through the support of the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chain Africa (CARISCA), which continues to provide students with platforms to engage with global supply chain challenges and solutions.
