The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has hosted its Alumni Homecoming Mentorship Programme, bringing together over 20 distinguished alumni mentors and current students for professional guidance and networking.
The four-hour programme, held at the New Faculty of Social Science Auditorium, focused on key professional areas: governance, politics and leadership, diplomacy, law, business, social work and child welfare, and counselling and networking.
The programme commenced with an opening prayer by Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Anthony Frangtana Naah, setting a positive tone for the day's activities.
Dr. Francess Dufie Azumah Esq., lead mentor and moderating host for the event, said the initiative was designed to create meaningful connections between alumni and students, offering a platform for networking, personal growth, and professional guidance.
"The mentorship programme was designed to provide participants with valuable insights into career development, industry trends, and strategies for building resilience," she said.
Alumni from all walks of life including parliamentarians, educationists, lawyers, bankers, and academics participated as mentors, including Ralph Poku-Adusei (Hon.), Member of Parliament for Bekwai Constituency, Mrs. Thywill Appiah-yel Doku (Esq.) specialising in career counselling, and Hon. Kofi PokuAdusei, former Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development and CEO of Kopaklif Limited.

The students were strategically grouped according to their career interests with assistance from Lawyer Edmund Amasah, who served as lead mentor alongside Dr. Azumah, and student executives. The structured mentoring sessions allowed for in-depth discussions on career development strategies and industry-specific guidance.
During the 105-minute mentoring sessions, over 800 students engaged in meaningful conversations about professional pathways and filled out Action Plan forms to chart their paths for ongoing growth.
Mr. Asibuo Rexford, President Elect of the Faculty of Social Sciences, expressed gratitude to the mentors and organisers during his closing remarks.
"The event fostered a supportive environment for growth and collaboration, leaving attendees inspired and motivated for their future endeavours," he said.
